Adding a Module to an Existing Group

Eventually, a user will want to upgrade their virtual monitor wall system by increasing the number of inputs. There are three steps to adding a new module to your system. The first step is to connect the hardware, the second step is to configure the software to detect the new modules, and finally you can load your saved presets. Remember that this entire process can be accomplished while the system is up and running and there is no need to shut down the software or the controller. Make sure you understand these instructions so you can complete the steps in the least amount of time.

Connecting the Hardware

When adding a new module to an existing group, you will need to cascade the new module with the last module in the existing group and also make sure that the new module has a unique ID.

1. Rack the module to the equipment rack where you are housing the other modules. Make sure the new module is relatively close to the controller.

2. Connect all your video inputs and if you are using composite inputs, make sure to terminate them. Also make sure your sources are outputting video to the module.

3. Connect the power chord and turn on the new module.

4. Disconnect either the VGA or DVI cable connecting the display to the back panel of the last module.

5. Connect either the VGA or DVI cable from step 4 to the VGA or DVI Out on the new module. You should now see four video images on your display.

6. Connect a DVI looping cable from the DVI out of the last module to the DVI In/DVI Loop of the new module.

7. Disconnect the RS-485 cable from the Com In port on the last module in your display group.

8. Connect the RS-485 cable from step 7 to the Com In port on the new module.

9. Connect the RS-485 looping cable from the Com Out port on the new module to the Com In port on the last module.

Configuring the Software

The second step to adding a new module involves configuring the software so that it can communicate with the new module. Again this can be accomplished without having to restart the software. Select play to watch the video demonstrating how the software is configured. Remember to enter avitech when the software prompts you to enter a password.

Load Saved Presets

The final step is to load any saved presets you might have had before adding the new modules. After you load your old presets, you will have to manually add the windows for your new module and then save the new preset. Watch the video below demonstrating how to load a saved preset.
